Hartridge Buddhist Monastery, Devon

New build low carbon Buddhist shrine and accommodation in rural Devon.

The building was constructed using natural and locally sourced materials as much as possible. A locally sourced green timber frame, clad with larch from a local farm, builds on the holistic design approach. To enhance the sustainability of the building, an efficient envelope has been created which is heated using a super efficient firewood boiler fed from timber grown on site.

The construction has been an open collaborative journey using a combination of community and professionals working together to achieve an enlightening and tranquil building.
